JOIN NOWAt Run and Become we stock some great running shoes for kids. Our range includes road running shoes for neutral and overpronating feet, trail running, and spiked running shoes for athletics. If you're not sure what's suitable for your child, visit our store for Natural Gait Analysis and a proper shoe fitting. Here's a selection of what we have to offer:
Stability Running Shoes / Neutral Running Shoes / Track & Field Spikes / Trail Running Shoes
These are for children whose feet roll too far inwards when they run. This can lead to injury if not corrected. However, as they’re still growing we don’t want to put them in anything too rigid. The junior versions of adult stability shoes therefore tend to offer a milder support – more suitable for growing legs.
For the kids whose feet stay reasonably upright when running. Neutral shoes allow the feet to move in the way that’s natural to them.
Gel cushioned midsole with flex grooves for a super-smooth ride. Hard-wearing, abrasion-resistant rubber outsole for durability, and a breathable mesh upper.
Saucony's junior Ride incorporates many design features of the adult shoe. A breathable mesh allows optimum ventilation. Compression moulded EVA with a super absorbent Powergrid heel insert shields the foot from impact when running on hard surfaces. A flexible, non-marking rubber outsole makes the Ride great for indoor and outdoor use.
For use on tartan or grass tracks for running, hurdling or jumping.
Adidas Allroundstar / Adidas Distancestar
Designed especially for junior athletes. Six removable spikes in the spike plate give uncompromising traction on the track, allowing your kid to run as fast as they can. Comes with a set of spikes and a spike key.
For running off road. These shoes have grippy outsoles to help reduce slipping in muddy conditions.
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) treatment helps to keep socks reasonably dry. Grippy outsoles for running over soft, muddy ground with mud-shedding lugs. EVA cushioning absorbs shock when the ground is harder. Non marking rubber on the outsole makes this a versatile trainer, also suitable for indoor use.
Give your child's running career an early start with the best possible footwear.

Greetings! My son walks on his tip toes and has started to run track. What type of running shoe would you recommend? ReplyAnnDecember 10, 2024 at 5:25pm
Hi Queen,
Many thanks for your email. It's great that you're looking for ways to support their movement. When choosing running shoes, look for options that offer good support, a well-cushioned midsole to reduce pressure on the toes, support heel counter to provide stability, and overall lightweight in design so it's easy to move in.
Have a look at the range we stock for kids...
My advice is based on general knowledge, I'm not a doctor or specialist. You may need to consult with a pediatrician or physical therapist for a professional evaluation.
Kind regards

Looking for suggestions on wide fittings runners and spike. Thanks, a desperate mother lol ReplyAnnJune 26, 2024 at 10:09am
Hi Sara.
Many thanks for your comment. Wide fitting spikes, from what we know and from the brands themselves, are not in production, they only produce standard fitting size. May be worth coming into our shop for a fitting.
Thanks

hi - what would you recommend a boy who runs regularly (2-3 time a week) and has very flat feet? we do use an insole to help but which trainers would you recommend pls? ReplyAnn KaewangchaiMay 18, 2024 at 10:50am
Hi Jay,
Many thanks for your comment. I would recommend testing out a pair of neutral road running shoes, given that the midsole does not have extra support which is only coming from the insoles he's already using.
Thanks

Hi, I’m just about to purchase some ASICS trainers x 2 pairs for my daughter (9). She’s never run in ASICS before, do they tend to size big/small or true to size? I usually go a size up for my children in trainers, would this be sufficient? ReplyNandanti MartaskovaJanuary 11, 2021 at 5:32pm
Hi Kerry, Thank you for your comment. Yes I would definitely go for one size up in a pair of kids' running shoes. The best is to try them on your child's feet and see how much space she has in them as each brand comes up differently. I hope this helps. Thank you, Kind Regards Nandanti

My daughter is 3 years old and we are starting to take her out for little runs with us. Her ankles roll inwards so she needs some support and she says her feet are tired in the rather clunky trainers for her age. She is a size 8 or 9 in the toddler sizes. What proper running shoes exist in her size at the moment? Is there anything? What age might we expect her to fit the smallest of the proper running shoes?
Thanks ever so much! Reply

Hi Will,
Thank you for your comment. At present the only supportive and cushioned shoe for kids for over-pronation is the Asics GT1000 9 Junior. The smallest size we stock is UK1, please see the options here. I am not a physio or podiatrist so I can't advise you on the over-pronation of your daughter but I have years of experience in our shop talking to customers and fitting them with the right type of running shoes. I would suggest to try strengthening your daughter's arches – in a very gentle way, as she is only 3 years old – by letting her walk barefoot where it is safe to do so. This way she can build her arches and reduce her over-pronation in a very natural way. If I were you I would wait and not support her feet with a supportive shoe right now as she is still developing. If her rolling ankles become a problem later on I would suggest to go for a supportive shoe. Please feel free to also get advice from a good physio or podiatrist. Here is the selection of neutral running shoes for kids, but again the smallest size is UK 1. Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any question or if there is anything else I can do for you. Thank you, Kind Regards Nandanti

Hi Zirkia,
The running spikes for children are £48: Adidas Allroundstar.
The smallest size is UK1 but they come up small so most likely you will be better to buy the size UK1 and UK2 for the boys. I usually suggest to go for 1 size up in the children's spikes. We have the full range of spikes in our London Victoria branch. We will be happy to help you choose some spikes in store.
Thank you,

Hi Brian,
ReplyCongratulations!!! That's a really excellent achievement! Well done your kid!
I'm from London UK so I'm not familiar with Toronto's specialist running stores but a google search gave me this.
Hope it helps and good luck in the finals.

Hi I was just wandering what you would recommend for my 7 year old he's size 2 and has very flat feet he has insoles but what would you recommend ReplyBhashini NeveOctober 4, 2018 at 7:20pm
Hi Konrad,
If he's got flat feet and wears insoles, he probably needs a supportive shoe. You could try the Asics GT1000. It starts at 2.5UK but they come up small. It's got a removable insole so he can take it out and put his own in.
All the best,

I have no idea how my child runs - we are in the early stages of establishing the sport - what would you recommend? ReplyBhashini NeveJanuary 31, 2018 at 10:13am
Hi Nikki,
ReplyThe best thing would be to bring your child in to one of our stores and we can watch them run and recommend something appropriate.
If that's not possible, one of the neutral running shoes like Asics Cumulus would be a good running starter shoe.
Best regards

yo i dont like it why aint there nike ReplyBhashini NeveMarch 28, 2017 at 10:44am
Hi Blobly,
Simply because we don't stock their junior shoes at Run and Become. Although we do stock their spikes which start at a small size and are suitable for children, like the Nike Zoom Rival M.
All the best,
