In Testing

Salomon is my first preference when it comes to running accessories – both hydration vests and backpacks. The XT 15 in particular fared well on my excursions out of the city, on both hikes and trail runs.

Admittedly, I like to carry quite a few items on these occasions, and the XT 15 was able to fit all my amenities into its many pockets, keeping the most important accessories like my phone and keys at easy hands-reach.

I also made use of its bladder compartment by attaching a bladder to it separately. I still had plenty of room left over, so the built-in compression system effectively helped contract the entire rucksack, ensuring that it utilised only as much space as necessary.

Verdict

Salomon is a front-runner in running essentials, with the XT 15 being a functional addition to its range of backpacks. It is one of the most versatile and user-oriented backpacks designed as of late, with a 15L capacity and various storage solutions. All of these can be customised according to its use for the day, whether that be a long-distance race – for which the bladder compartment comes in handy – or perhaps even the bike ride home from work, with your laptop securely placed in the large back pocket.
