Cons
- To be honest, I couldn’t find much wrong with this jacket.
In Testing
- The jacket has an incredibly light feel to wear
- Fit was good with the part-elasticated, shaped cuffs, snug but not tight
- Hood doesn’t flap around when not in use, and is incredibly cosy when in use. With 3 points of adjustment, pulled close with the hood drawstrings
- Adjustable hem with cinchable drawcord
- I have to say it totally kept me dry on some very wet running days recently. The breathability was impressive compared to other fully water proof jackets I have worn too. No feeling of clamminess at all
Verdict
Montane have long had a reputation for producing quality lightweight products.
The Minimus Lite Jacket certainly lives up to that reputation. Simply put: one of the best lightweight waterproof jackets on the market for sure. It comes highly recommended for anyone just wanting to keep dry on a short early morning run, or a long ultra-distance trail race, or mountain marathon in the most inclement conditions.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for your note on our Montane review. I am pretty sure it was a previous generation Montane pair I was wearing – similar qualities and material to the jacket. You can view our current ranges of Montane and other brands of mens running trousers here.
Bear in mind only the Montane, OMM and Inov-8 have fully taped seams and are fully waterproof. The On and Ronhill ones shown are just showerproof.

ReplyThanks for your comment. From memory on this day, in November in the highlands, it wold probably have been a Helly Hansen Warm Half Zip. I have also worn Montane Primino Half Zip and Ronhill Merino 1/2 Zip which are slightly thiner but still keep you nice and warm. Hope that helps but do ask back any other questions.
